Records and Prizes

Records:

I/we hold the following records (sorry for the shameless self-promotion, see below for definitions):

Personal records:

  • Youngest Dane in every country and continent (47 years and 234 days – more on Wikipedia )
  • Possibly the worlds youngest ‘hobby & family traveller’ to visit every country (not a verified record)
  • “Most travelled” person in Denmark (not a verified record, only valid using definition below)

Family records:

  • Most travelled Danish family
  • My son Jonas holds the record as youngest member to enter Travellers Club of Denmark. The club requires a minimum of 30 visited UN-countries (plus a few more requirements listed in Danish here ). Jonas was only two years old when he got admitted to the club in 2012.
  • In september 2024 my 17-year-old daughter Ava became tho youngest Danish woman to have visited 100 UN-countries

Definitions:

  • ‘Hobby traveller’ is defined as someone who pays for everything himself and has a non-travel related job. And ‘family traveller’ is defined as travelling with the family on most of the trips. (A bit fluffy I know)
  • The most travelled person in Denmark is defined here as the Danish person who has visited every country and continent and travelled the longest distance using surface transportation or who has visited the most Nomad Mania regions.
  • Pr 1.8.2023 seven Danes have visited every country – and two danes (my friend Frode Kjems Uhre and me) have visited every country and continent.
  • Note that since there are no countries in Antarctica it is possible to visit every country in the world without having visited every continent.
  • Out of the two danes that have visited every country and continent I am the one who has travelled most kilometers using surface trasportation and I am the one who has visited most regions on Nomad Manias regional list. Frode Kjems Uhre on the other hand is the one who has visited most territories according to Travellers Club of Denmarks territory list – hence there are different definitions.
  • Note also that Torbjørn C. Pedersen has visited every country (but not every continent) and has travelled many more surface kilometers than me.
  • Note also that Ole Markussen holds the record of most visited NomadMania regions.
  • Most travelled family is defined as father, mother and children (or child) travelling together and is based on the average number of visited UN-countries. Our family average pr 1.11.2022 is 119,25 countries out of the 193 UN-countries.
